The page people are searching for no longer answers the question.

Hotjar Ltd merged into Contentsquare, and as of today hotjar.com/pricing issues a permanent redirect to contentsquare.com/pricing. The familiar Basic / Plus / Business / Scale grid, and the Observe / Ask / Engage split, are gone. If you arrived here from a search for Hotjar's pricing, that is why you could not find it.

What replaced it is worth understanding before you plan around it, because it meters differently. Contentsquare's Experience Analytics free tier advertises up to 200,000 monthly sessions — but sessions and replays are two separate quotas, and the number of sessions actually recorded as replays is a fraction of the sessions counted. Surveys are a separate paid product again.

Two quotas is the mechanism behind the longest-running complaint about Hotjar: crossing the line does not stop collection and does not queue it — it starts sampling, and nothing in the interface announces it. You keep getting data. It just stops being all of your data.

We took the opposite decision, and it is the main reason this page exists. There is one meter. When you reach it we stop storing and tell you, in the app and by email. We would rather you know you are missing sessions than quietly hand you a subset you believe is complete.

Where Hotjar wins

  • Contentsquare's free tier is enormous by session count, and its paid tiers include heatmaps, journey analysis and AI summaries we do not have.
  • Surveys and feedback widgets are a genuine product we do not compete with at all.
  • It is an established enterprise vendor with the certifications and the support organisation that implies.

If you want surveys, heatmaps and journey analysis in one suite, that is the suite. If what you actually wanted was Hotjar's old simple replay at Hotjar's old simple price, this is closer to it.
